Letter From Santa

To: All Parents
From: Santa

I know you're busy running around helping me get gifts for all of your family and friends– including the coworker you have to give a gift to because you drew names. Christmas can be a very stressful time of year so I have some advice for you: show your love by giving more of your time rather than more of your money.

Everyone loves presents, but what people truly value is your love. Taking the time to listen to someone's problems and offering good advice is better than a pair of new shoes any day (apologies to sneaker-heads & stiletto junkies). Do you know how much your niece or nephew would enjoy you going to some of their games rather than buying them a game?

Spending time with people comes down to loving them enough to make the time and caring enough about your relationship with God. How is your relationship with God impacted by loving others? God expects you to love your neighbor as you love yourself (Mark 12:31). For "...whoever loves God must also love his brother" (‭1 John‬ ‭4‬:‭21‬ ESV).

Obviously part of loving others is giving, but you should also show love by giving some time to those you give to. Hug someone when they're going through a tough situation; take the time to call your aunt or uncle to see how they're doing. Give encouraging words when someone makes a mistake rather than gossip about it. I know you're still going to make a big deal about Christmas, but try to focus a little more on the love you show to others and I'll focus on the presents.

Think about it,
Santa

Did you know God said you can't love Him whom you haven't seen if you don't love your brother whom you have seen (1 John 4:20)?
