Higher Learning

Everyone likes to think of themselves as being smart. Nothing makes us happier than being right about something. Our parents sent us to school with the hope we will become the next Albert Einstein... well at least graduate. With so much emphasis on learning, it's amazing how many people only have an elementary school education? I'm not questioning anyone's proficiency in the classroom. I'm questioning your Bible knowledge. All of the education in the world is useless if you don't study the Bible. "For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God..." (1 Corinthians 3:19 NASB).

Be honest with yourself, do you know if it is okay to sue a Christian (1 Corinthians 6:1-9)? Do you know the rules for fasting (Matt 6:16-18)? Can you call someone a fool (Matt 5:22) or call your preacher Rabi or Reverend (Matt 23:8-12)?

We go against God's commands everyday. Oftentimes it's not because we are bad people, it's our lack of Bible knowledge. We claim to be Christians but we don't take the time to study. Are you so busy that you can't read a few times a week? People spend more time in the shower than they do reading the Bible. I'm sure some of you are already thinking the three minutes spent reading this posting is too long.

We all spend time on what we think is important: work, kids, sports, hobbies. Wake up and realize there is nothing more important than knowing what's in the Bible. It should really motivate you that when it comes to Bible knowledge, you may not be as smart as a 5th grader.

Think about it.
